Healthwatch Northamptonshire response to Corby Urgent Care Centre judicial review ruling
The public were promised full consultation on the future of the services provided by Corby Urgent Care Centre in 2017, which did not materialise. NHS Corby CCG is the smallest Clinical Commissioning Group in the country and this is the second Judicial Review against it in two years diverting money from frontline services.
We recognise that difficult decisions have to be made about the allocation of health resources, however this should always be done with full consultation with local people to enable informed choices to be made.
The Save Corby Urgent Care Action Group has done a fantastic job in raising public awareness of the issues, taking on a public body that refused to listen, and representing the people of Corby and the wider public from surrounding areas that use and value the service. We will continue to work with the public and the CCG to ensure that future engagement is truly independent and meaningful and that people feel they have been listened to and their views make a difference.
